Our son, Matthew is in 2nd grade. At the beginning of the year the school did not have a teacher for the 2nd grade position. Mrs. Speed taught music, and had a lot of responsibility as it was....yet she took on the responsibility of "filling in" as the 2nd grade teacher. There was an instant connection between the students and Mrs. Speed, and after a couple of months she made the decision to permanately fill the position for the entire school year. She did not have the entire summer to prep and plan for the classroom, yet she has done a wonderful job teaching the kids. She has put in so much time, effort, and so much of her heart into each one of the 2nd graders, and they love her so much (as do all of the parents)! it is clear she has a gift in teaching these kids. She is a true blessing to each one of them. I don't know waht we would do without her. We are so very thankful for her in our son's life.
